La agrupación chilena Mainumbi debuta con un disco homónimo. Creada en el 2005 por el cantautor Jorge Ignacio Torres Benapres en Santiago De Chile, el ensamble integra ritmos Afrocubanos con sonoridades del folclor latinoamericano, con textos ineditos, politicos y muy poeticos.
Negocios son negocios pone de relieve las ejecuciones de Marcelo Arce en el solo de bongo y de Daniel “oso” Espinoza en el de trompeta. Lo que e lloraó es un tema hermoso y nostálgico que destaca a Simon Collyer y a Felipe Echeverría en el bajo y teclados, respectivamente, así como la gran presencia vocal de Torres Bonapres y a Cristóbal Mora en la batería. En Mi Opinión, número que tiende puentes entre la Rumba Cubana, en tiempo de Columbia, y un cadencioso Cha Cha Cha, es aderezado con textos políticos y actuales de la vida en Latinoamérica, y destaca una gran guitarra eléctrica a cargo de Claudio Concha. El armonioso Mujer De Miel nos cautiva con un Bolero en su introducción y un ritmo contagioso, reforzado con el solo de Bernardo Lama Lagos en el trombón. Echame de menos se pone álgida en la moña, una conversación entre el trombón y la trompeta a cargo de Bernardo Lama y “Oso” Espinoza, respectivamente. Sabana africana en forma de metáfora nos regala un bello solo de guitarra ejecutado por Claudio Concha y otro endiablado de Marcelo Arce en las tumbadoras. Hazlo ya propone un tema con dosis de Flamenco y Rock basado en la Clave, e invita a reivindicar nuestros derechos civiles.

Frenesí was released on September 15, 1992. It was Ronstadt's third Spanish-language album. After many years out of print, this album was reissued, along with Ronstadt's two Mariachi discs, in 2016.

Frenesí reached #193 on the Billboard album chart, #3 on the Top Latin Albums chart, and #17 on the Tropic/Salsa chart. Three singles charted on the Hot Latin Tracks chart: "Frenesi" at #5, "Perfidia" at #7, and "Entre Abismos" at #33.
At the 35th Grammy Awards, Frenesí won the Grammy Award for Best Tropical Latin Album.
Music critic Roch Parisien rated the album poorly in his Allmusic review, writing: "...there's little that sounds street level or rootsy about these sessions. I can't help picturing a wind-up lounge band holding court at some tourist-trap Holiday Inn in Acapulco."
